Wood Project I Was Recently Working On
I am so happy to use those rear opportunities to work as a product designer. This time I needed to create the memorial object for the honorary members of Lithuanian Association in Iceland on the occasion of the five year anniversary of this organization. I wanted it to be standing object and made in wood: it is much easier to fit the standing objects in the interior; second wood, particularly oak, has a very special meaning to Lithuanians. I was lucky enough to find the desirable pieces of oak – with some natural faults. I love that each piece of five is different in size and shape – it makes them so exclusive. The sides of objects were smoothed, the one used for the record was polished. Memorial records were cut with laser to make it look like burned in wood. Objects were finished with oil to make it look light translucent.
